On May 30th Tony Shaver, one of our high school graduates, was honored with a college scholarship contribution from the Camp Fire Alumni Association. This coming fall, he will be living on campus as a freshman at Sonoma State University. For over twelve years, Tony has been an active member of Camp Fire programs at the Acorn Housing Complex in West Oakland. During his many years with our City Kids, Kids With Dreams, and Teens In Action programs, he has grown to become a self-disciplined, focused, and determined young leader.

Tony is a young person with a great desire to give back to his community. As a member of our Teens In Action program, he regularly volunteers to be a Youth Leader for our younger girls and boys in the Kids With Dreams after school program. In addition, for the past couple of summers, Tony has donated his time as a Junior Camp Counselor for our Resident Camp. Throughout his participation in numerous activities, Tony has demonstrated commendable decision-making and leadership skills. He has become a young person who takes his responsibilities seriously and can be depended upon to meet goals and objectives.

Tony will represent his family, his community, and Camp Fire USA honorably and with much distinction as he embarks on his collegiate career.
