Our Summer Program at the Acorn Housing Complex will receive eight additional volunteers for the month of July. College students participating in the Bay Area Urban Project (BayUP) will be living in West Oakland for several weeks this summer and giving service to the community. BayUp is a partnership between InterVarsity Christian Fellowship and Bay Area churches and ministries. The program presents an opportunity for multi-ethnic and cultural experience, both for team members and the communities they serve. The BayUp members will assist Camp Fire staff in providing a high quality summer program. Their service and participation will be greatly appreciated by our staff and the kids alike—we look forward to their arrival.

Kids With Dreams/Teens In Action Summer Program

The Summer Program will begin on June 28th from 12:00pm to 5:30pm. Planned activities include: Swimming, Sports Games, Field Trips, Arts and Crafts, Fun Clubs, and much more.

This summer, Teens In Action will kick off the new program year with our Hold Onto Health activities. The teens will use exciting activities to teach their younger peers how to incorporate fun, healthy activities into their day and delicious, nutritious food into their diet. 

Summer Day Camp
Applications are now being accepted for participation in our two Summer Day Camp sessions. The dates of the camps are August 2nd through the 6th and August 9th through the 13th. At day camp, at-risk girls and boys will experience exciting and adventurous activities away from the often dangerous inner-city life of their communities. Activities included hiking, boating, lake swimming, water slides and BBQ.  The cost for Summer Day Camp is $200 per session; however, camperships are available for youth from low-income families.

Resident Camp
On August 17th-20th, eligible youth will attend the Annual Residence Camping Trip at Camp Gold Hollow in Nevada City, CA.  The four-day camping adventure will be filled with various camp activities such as hiking, swimming, boating, arts/crafts, archery, leather-making, camp fires and much more! The cost for Resident Camp is $650 per person; however, camperships are being sought for youth participating in our Kids With Dreams and Teens In Action programs.
